Hiking
Ready to go for a walk?
What is it about standing on a vista overlooking a beautiful valley that can override our emotions…
or standing in the flickering sunbeams filtering through the branches of a forest that can remove us from time …
or the mesmerizing ebb and flow of a rushing river that can quiet our minds…
There is a sense of wonder and awe that comes from being surrounded by Nature that simply cannot be matched by anything we have made with our hands. God’s Country, where things exist in their unadulterated state, can bring about feelings and thoughts that are borderline indescribable and often unexpected. We want to surround ourselves with this pure creation in an attempt to connect with our Creator in some of these beautiful ways. We want to see mountains, streams, forest, deserts, oceans and countless other places in their unaltered state. We want to tangibly interact with our world, put our hands on it, find its treasures and feel its life.
And we want to do it together as a community.
Our Hiking Group is an attempt to reconnect with a hidden world that is often overlooked as we go about our fast-paced way of life. It is a deliberate step away from the stress and anxiety that too many of us face each day. It is a time, even if its just for a few hours, to breathe in the peaceful stillness of open space. And maybe, just maybe, in that stillness find God as well.
This group is open to anyone who wants to experience the world in its most basic and natural forms. We will be exploring the hundreds of miles of trails within a stone’s throw of Redlands (not all at once of course!) Our hikes will be geared towards families and hikers of all abilities and will be on selected Sunday Afternoons after Church. Check the Church bulletin or the events page on the website for the next hike location and date!
All you need to bring is a good pair of shoes and a sense of adventure!
