1st June, 2010New Small Group (!)As a church, we take very seriously our call to be a blessing to our great city. We measure our success as a church on the lives that are changed all week, not just on Sundays. In order to get as many people involved in the heart of our church, we are initiating a new small group that will… 1) Study Scripture and pray together 2) Help people in our church get to know each other 3) Hear from people w/in our community (leaders of non-profits, HIV case managers, etc.) 4) Plan and organize service projects every 6-8 weeks that will involve the whole church The group will meet on Wednesdays from 630-7:45pm. We will find these 10 words as a gift from God, who wants to relate to us and teach us how to live well. These words that God etched in stone with his own finger are intended to be a blessing to us, so that we can relate to God and each other in a way that will bless the whole world. There is a perceived arrogance to planting a church. In a place like Redlands, where there are more churches than gas stations, why plant another one? Do we think we can do it better? The answer is no. We aren’t here to ‘do it better,’ as if we were a business trying to cut in to a new market. Church isn’t a business. You aren’t a consumer. We aim much higher. But, where exactly are we aiming? We believe that God is the author of Restoration’s story, and that we have a unique call to live out together. Easter weekend is always a highlight at Restoration, with two of our richest traditions: our Good Friday Service and our Easter Sunrise Service. This Friday (April 2nd) is Good Friday. We will be having a special service with responsive reading, special music, and reflection. This year, we will be in Jon & Lindsey’s home (you can get directions here). Sunday (April 4th) we will have a sunrise service in our normal location (you can get directions here). It will be a shorter service, followed by breakfast at the MacDonald’s (no, not the restaurant). If you know you are coming and would like to bring some food, signup here. When Jesus calls us to come and follow, we are not signing up for a moral system or a free ticket to heaven, but a giving of our hearts. How can we do that if we don’t trust him, and how can we trust him if we don’t know him? Come, join us this season of Lent as we get to know him, that we might trust him with our hearts and lives. With the sale of their building comes the beginning of a new chapter in our history. We are very excited to reveal our new location. In the meantime, here’s how you can find us… December 13 – We will be at Forest Home for a Christmas banquet. December 20 – Our Christmas service at Jon and Lindsey’s home (email us for directions!). December 27 – A worship service, also at Jon & Lindsey’s home. On the first Sunday in January, we will celebrate 3 years of ministry and have a grand opening at our new location in downtown Redlands! Posted at 2:01 pm | Comment (0) 18th August, 2009Trip to LifeIMPORTANT! We will not be meeting at our normal location on Sunday, August 30th. On this Sunday, we will be making a pilgrimage to Life Covenant Church in beautiful Torrance, CA. Almost 3 years ago, Life sent us out to Redlands to begin planting Restoration. Because of Life’s generosity with their resources and wisdom, we were able to begin Restoration. We will be meeting at Oasis at noon to carpool down to the beach. At 4:30, we will go to a BBQ at a home in beautiful Rancho Palos Verdes. After dinner together, we will have a time of worship and baptism with Life before heading home.
